Trees have always been a symbol of strength, stability, and growth. Their roots keep them grounded while their branches reach upward, continuing to grow and change with the seasons. I love that trees are strong and steady, yet they are also living, breathing parts of the world around us.

Pottery feels much the same to me. Clay begins as something simple and earthy, but through hands, time, and the firing process, it becomes something strong and lasting. Just like a tree, each piece is unique, grounded, and shaped by the natural world. Through my pottery, I hope to capture that feeling of strength, connection, and life that trees and nature bring into our everyday lives.

Welcome to Prairie Rock Pottery!

Hi, I’m Beth, the artist behind Prairie Rock Pottery. Thank you so much for stopping by my website and taking a little time to learn more about me and my pottery!

. We live on a little homestead in Wisconsin, where we enjoy our beautiful garden and our 12 chickens. We also have an adorable dog named Chewbacca, or Chewy for short. You’ll often see my daughter, Olivia, with me at pottery shows, helping out and sharing in the fun!

My path to pottery has taken a few different turns. I went to college to become a special education teacher and spent many years working in the DeForest School District. I later stepped away from teaching to become a stay-at-home mom and focus on my health. I also spent some time as a substitute teacher along the way.

About 11 years ago, I discovered pottery, and it quickly became something I truly loved. What started as an interest has grown into a creative outlet that has become a very special part of my life.

My home studio is nestled on a prairie near the peaceful Yahara River, close to the lovely communities of DeForest, Waunakee, and Windsor, Wisconsin. Every piece of Prairie Rock Pottery is made by my own hands. I enjoy both hand building and the mesmerizing process of throwing clay on the wheel. Each piece is then fired right here in my home studio kiln.

When you choose a piece of Prairie Rock Pottery, you’re not just taking home a piece of pottery—you’re taking home a little piece of me. My work is inspired by my love of the outdoors, my appreciation for the beauty of clay, my love of warm earth tones, and my own unique artistic expression.

No two pieces are exactly alike. I love experimenting with different shapes, textures, colors, and techniques, and I never quite know where my creativity will take me next. That variety and the joy of creating are what make pottery so special to me.

I hope you enjoy exploring my website and discovering some of the pieces I’ve created. Most of all, I love being able to share my pottery with others, and I would love to meet you in person at one of the shows I attend.

Thank you for visiting Prairie Rock Pottery and for supporting my small, handmade business. I hope you’ll come say hello at a show sometime!

Sincerely,
Beth Mueller
